Program Description
In collaboration with the RN instructor, the ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) instructor utilizes a variety of activities to identify students’ language needs and to provide students with additional language support. This integrated instructional approach helps students improve their English proficiency while simultaneously acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to become a CNA in Massachusetts.
The ESL Nurse Assistant Training course is 175 hours in length, which includes 100 hours of ESL in addition to the Nursing Assistant curriculum and training (50 hours of lecture/theory and lab/practice and 25 hours of clinical experience). Through lectures, videos, games, role-playing, and laboratory practice, the students learn skills such as bathing, dressing, positioning, and vital signs as well as learning to gather information needed to provide care for people within the healthcare system.
